Journey's that lead toward minimalism

Updated: Sep 25, 2019

You don't wake up one morning and decide to join the minimalism movement. Possibly leading to a tiny home purchase. You acquire the mindset from your journey and experiences that have changed your views.

I have kept this card for many years as it shows how my life has progressed and changed with experiences. Author is unknown.

“As you Journey through life , choose your destinations well, but do not hurry there. You will arrive soon enough. Wonder the back roads and forgotten paths, keeping your destination in your heart like the fixed point of a compass. Seek out new voices, strange sight, and ideas foreign to your own. Such things are riches for the soul. And, if upon arrival, you find that your destination is not exactly as you had dreamed, do not be disappointed. Think of all you would have missed but for the journey there, and know that the true worth of your travels lies not in where you come to be at journey's end, but in who you come to be along the way.”

Some of my friends and I feel like we lived in a "bubble" when growing up. Protected, loved, while the outside world was foreign to us. We were blessed in our childhood, but when leaving that "bubble" became reality. As I talk among other people and their childhood experiences it became a harsh reality of different life paths. That understanding of the most important aspects, in my existence, is to try to understand where different views emerge. Less judgment is an ongoing long range goal. This is who I am becoming "along the way". Jan
