10 Easy Bedroom Organizer Ideas

Updated: Mar 2

Bedroom organization seems like a daunting task, but it can be done with a few good tips.

A few things to consider before starting is what you want to store in your bedroom. Is it clothes, books, make-up, shoes? Once you have an idea of what you are storing, you can start to declutter. So you can create a home for your most treasured items and donate the ones that don't create joy. We can either have stuff or we can have space to enjoy the most used items whether it be your top books, shoes, clothes, or sentimental family treasures.

Keep your surfaces clear with only a few items you want to see everyday. Clutter creates more clutter and adds stress to our lives. Sentimental items are usually the hardest!

1.) Nightstands should have drawers with the items you use the most. Such as a charging station for you electronics. If you read a Kindle or laptop in bed then you simply reach over to charge it overnight. This can be done by drilling a hole on the back of the night stand or add a mobile portable charger. Just don't use it as a junk drawer, organize it so you don't create or move more clutter.

Rating 4.4 out of 5. 756 ratings. Review: Sturdy and very convenient with the charging ports and electrical outlets. Note: the lights use one of the USB ports so you only truly get 1 USB port unless you unplug the lights. I bought this as a temporary nightstand until I find one that matches my other one but I’ll probably use this as a printer stand in my home office eventually. Great product overall!

2.) Bedroom wall lights will create more room on nightstands and keep the room tidy.

Rating: 4.4 out of 5. 90 ratings. Review: This was a great buy! It did not disappoint!

The lamps appear to be well made and were easy to install. I would recommend them, and have!

3.) Use storage containers under the bed for end of season clothes, or for end of season sandals. Under bed show drawers.

Rating 4.5 out of 5; 369 ratings. Review: If you have an apartment with little storage for clothes and shoes you need these under-bed storage bins. The wheels are super smooth and quiet, the materials are sturdy. I don’t use the plastic cover because I reach for my stuff under the bed often, but if I were traveling it’s great bc I could just zip up my stuff and go. Going to buy another set !

4.) End-of-bed storage for a stable spot to sit while putting on your shoes while getting ready in the morning.

Rating 4.6 out of 5. 6,551 ratings. Review: This turned out to be much better than I expected for pur bedroom. We have a king size and it suites the space very well. Adds a sturdy seating space and keeps everything away. Very happy to have found this at this great price. You won’t regret it.

5.) A laundry basket can be a cute large hamper basket plus it can add color to a room.

Rating 4.8 out of 5. 5,117 ratings. Review: I got this and a matching organihaus basket (one tall, one wide) during a re-do of my laundry room because I wanted something more attractive than your standard basket or hamper. These are every bit as pretty as the manufacturer's photos.. I followed the directions to get the baskets into the correct shape by 1st stuffing them with pillows and then steam ironing, and it worked really well.

Bedroom declutter closet ideas- Become a minimalist

Declutter the clothes in your closet. Get rid of clothes that can't answer these questions. Closet space is limited as this is prime real estate. Do I wear it more than a few times per year? Is it comfortable? One of my favorite lines from Marie Kondo is, "The process of assessing how you feel about the things you own, identifying those that have fulfilled their purpose, expressing your gratitude, and bidding them farewell." This is what I do with sentimental clothing I received as gifts, which I don't wear anymore. I say thanks but now it goes to someone else as a donation.

1.) A rolling cart may be place inside your closet to utilize for day to day accessories. Such as jewelry or to place the items you expect to use for the next day.

Rating 4.5 out of 5. Rating 2,545. Review: I have 3 of these at this point, I absolutely love them. They’re easy to put together, easy to move around, have locks on the wheels so they don’t move. So far I’ve used these for an art cart, a book cart, and a diaper cart. I think I’ll be getting another one soon for the kitchen, either for some small appliances or snacks.

2.) Keep your shoes off the floor with shoe rack organizer stacking bins.

Rating 4.7 out of 5. Ratings 28,895. Review: Easy enough to set up. Perfect for our three person apartment. Can fit three pairs of regular shoes on each shelf. Boots can’t go upright, but we put these on the top shelf and have a rubber mat for the winter so it doesn’t bother us.

3.) Closet organizer systems which have various options. Such as built in drawers, double clothes racks, etc.

Rating: 4.7 out of 5. 1,785 ratings. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. But beware: the instructions show layouts that cannot be completed with the pieces included in this kit alone. For example, I used one of the 6' layouts, but it required three connector pieces—this kit only comes with two. So just be extra cautious when choosing your layout. The good news is you can order extra parts directly from Closetmaid to get the layout you want, but it'll cost you a little extra. I had a 24" shelf length leftover, so I'll be picking up two brackets from Home Depot and adding it between the shoe rack and existing tiered shelves for even more storage.

4.) Use shelf dividers especially when using the folding method. In the same amount of space for hanging 10 items, you can hold from ten to forty pieces of folded clothing. It does depend on the thickness of the clothing, but this works well for t-shirts.

Rating 4.5 out of 5. 7,176 ratings. Review: Very sturdy and good quality. Would buy more in the future if needed. These are a little more pricy than others, BUT its worth the few extra dollars. Most of the cheaper ones have such a thin lining. These come with sturdy inserts for the bottom to keep them in place.

5.) Wall hooks for everything important. Such as closet hooks in convenient locations for designated items for a collection of scarves, jewelry and belts.

Rating: 4.6 out of 5. 1,089 ratings. Review: It is perfect. Excellent quality,, dark wood finish, lots of hooks

Can be screwed in on any wall rather then hung in closet or use two suded tape so it can be easily removed and placed elsewhere.
